Dr. Louis Hagen re-elected as President of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks

The Members of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) have committed to continuity by unanimously confirming Dr. Louis Hagen, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Münchener Hypothekenbank eG, as President of the vdp. With that, Hagen has been re-elected until the next scheduled election of the vdp’s President at the Meeting of the Members in 2022.

Hagen, who holds a doctorate in law, has served on the Board of Managing Directors of Münchener Hypothekenbank eG since 2009, and was appointed Chairman in 2016. He has also been President of the vdp since 2016. Besides representing the Pfandbrief banks’ interests in central regulatory projects such as the implementation of Basel III in Europe, the agenda for his third consecutive term of office will concentrate heavily on overcoming the Covid-19 crisis: 

“Our declared objective is to help our member banks to navigate safely through the phase of economic recession,” Dr. Louis Hagen emphasized. “In this context, the focus for the vdp will be on the regulatory framework, which must not place an additional burden on banks but rather make it easier for them to deal with the crisis. Valuation issues and balance sheet-related topics are also high up on our agenda.” 

In addition, the Meeting of the Members re-elected the vdp’s Board of Directors in its entirety for the next two-year term of office. Members of the Board of Directors are:
